Day 5
As the first week of senior project is beginning to come to an end, I am running around trying to find things that I can accomplish in the rainy weather. Waking up to the rain this morning, I struggled to think what I could get done today.
I began gathering phone numbers of 4 local lumber yards to try and track down some Mahogany wood that I will need for the wood slats of the chair. I decided to go with Mahogany over other types of wood because it is a harder wood that has less chance of warping over time, and it is more aesthetically pleasing due to its deeper richer colors and grain. I was searching for a 3/4" common board that I can cut to my measured length of 36".

Belletetes was the closest lumber yard that carried this special type of wood, and it just so happens that I drive by it everyday on my way to school.
Because of the weather forecast for the next week, I will be using these rainy days for time in the wood shop at proctor to cut, and to strip the boars down to my preferred size.
As a recap on this rainy day, I spent 45 minutes on the phone with lumber yards and taking measurements for the square footage of material I will need.
I spent the next 45 minutes of my day at Belletetes purchasing the Mahogany, and talking to a professional in the paint department to select the right primer and paint for the two chairs.
