Day 2
As day 2 started off rainy and damp I was unable to work with power tools to continue the process of stripping and removing old paint. I thought... "What can I do on a rainy day?" I did not plan for many rainy days in my schedule. My project had changed, I am no longer making a swing out of these chairs, just the chairs themselves. There are no blueprints or plans that I need to take time and draw up anymore.
For my project I am now selling the two chairs that I create. For the first hour this morning I researched and brainstormed ways of selling the chairs to a private community (The Proctor community) and not just putting them on a public site such as eBay or Craigslist. My goal for this project is to sell one chair to someone in the Proctor community, and then to open up the second chair to anyone (general public included.) All of the proceeds will be going to Proctor Academy.
Some of the options I looked into for selling were:
This picture is of what the finished product will look like. And the gaps you can see in-between the wood is due to the little rubber spacers.

For the second hour of day 2, I focused on cleaning the spacers that separate the wooden slats in the chairs seat. This was somewhat of a boring task, but needed to be done well in order for a snug fit of all the slats. Without these spacers being perfect, the boards may not be parallel, or might not fit snug.

On the left is a picture of the spacers before cleaning, and on the right is a picture of the spacers after an hour of cleaning with water and a scraper.
At the end of Day 2, I had put in 2 hours of work.
This brings my total hours to 4.5
This brings my total hours to 4.5
Completed:
1. Research on the selling process
2. Cleaning of all spacers
Tomorrows tasks (weather permitting):
1. remove flaking paint on the second chair
2. start the process of polishing the chairs before primer and paint.
Why no more swing? Is it time? Or would it add to the general difficulty of the project? Either way, it seems like you are making good progress despite the weather!
